What is required of a Dawg Camp staff member?

The Dawg Camp staff is a diverse and impressive group of UGA student leaders. Great staff members must be enthusiastic leaders and mentors on the University of Georgia campus, and hold a love for the University’s community, students, and traditions. While prior student leadership experience, a willingness to serve the University community, and a desire to work with incoming first years make an excellent staff member, previous Dawg Camp experience is not necessary to apply. Applicants must be able to tackle tough issues that will be discussed, including alcohol/drugs, relationship issues, roommate conflicts, diversity, and adjusting to college. They must also be willing to serve the first-year students as a peer leader for an entire calendar year.

All staff members, regardless of the program in which they will be participating, must participate in all Dawg Camp Discovery staff training sessions, attend Dawg Camp Discovery, and attend at least two first-year workshops.  Additional meetings will be required for Special Program Counselors (Adventure, Classic City, and Fusion).  Dawg Camp requires a substantial amount of time, and we encourage applicants to thoroughly check the dates; you need not apply if you will not be able to attend all required events. All students applying must be in good standing with the University and must remain so throughout the duration of Dawg Camp activities

Dawg Camp Staff applications for 2011 are no longer being accepted.
